We use and share quotes for many different reasons, whether it be inspiration, motivation or simply just conversation. As we found out, amazing quotes can come from unexpected sources. Have you ever said something and thought, “Hey, that would make a great quote!”?

If so, I’d love it if you click the comment button and share some of your personal wisdom with us! If you don’t think you’ve ever said anything quote-worthy, I encourage you to listen more closely, because I bet you have.

3 Inspirational Quotes for Mother’s Day

Inspirational mom inspirational quotes

Moms are the foundation of a family. They give us the love, care, and adoration that we often have trouble expressing gratitude for. Thankfully, Mother’s Day rolls around every year and gives us a chance to show our moms just how much we love them back. Some moms get heartfelt cards. Others get lovely gifts. But no matter how you celebrate this important day, here are 3 inspirational quotes for Mother’s Day.

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” – Abraham Lincoln

In Vi-An Nguyen’s Parade article, “100 Inspiring Quotes About Moms for 100 Years of Mother’s Day”, she celebrates this milestone by providing 100 inspiring mom-related quotes said over the course of 100+ years. Her list includes moving words from people like Edgar Allen Poe, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tupac. For a little bit of Mother’s Day history: American President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed it a national holiday in 1914. However, the celebration of moms can actually be traced back to ancient times when giving gifts hadn’t yet become tradition.

“Acceptance, tolerance, bravery, compassion. These are the thing my mom taught me.” – Lady Gaga

Expressing how much we love our moms in 140 characters isn’t always easy. So why not let some of the greatest wordsmiths do it? In “80 Mother’s Day Quotes to Show Mom You Care”, ProFlowers features quotes that aren’t just inspiring, but also sweet and funny. These quotes made by everyone from Tim McGraw to Dorothy Zbornak (from the Golden Girls) are perfect for helping us remember our moms – and for posting on Twitter!

“Mother’s love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved.” – Erich Fromm

According to Beliefnet’s “Inspirational Quotes About Mothers”, moms are the ones who make sacrifices for our benefit. Not only do they love us unconditionally, they’ll also do whatever it takes to put smiles on our faces. For this, these lovely ladies should be appreciated. The article highlights famous quotes from historical figures like Victor Hugo and Mark Twain, current figures like Michael Jordan and Oprah Winfrey, and cultural proverbs that prove loving your mother never gets old.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

The Power of Motivational Quotes

Iyanla VanzantOther people’s words

Writers know all too well the power of words. The same twenty six letters can be used to capture someone’s imagination or reduce them to tears, and a skillful writer can wield the power of their pen to accomplish whichever goal they intended. It may seem counterintuitive, then, for a writer to use other people’s words, in the form of famous, inspirational or motivational quotes, to make connections.

Building a bridge

“Other people’s words are the bridge you use to cross from where you were to wherever you’re going.” -Zadie Smith

Using quotes can be a powerful way to connect with people – regardless of what prior relationship you may already have had with them. Even if you don’t know a person, they may share an appreciation for the one being quoted, instantly giving, Particularly on a social media network such as Twitter, it is possible to have hundreds of readers mere moments after posting. Your quote catches their eye and they retweet it, giving you an open door to further communication with people you have never reached before.

Establishing credibility

“Accuracy builds credibility.” – Jim Rohn

Quotes can be particularly useful when they are topical to your field. Sales personnel would identify with a quote by Zig Ziglar, techies with Steve Jobs and athletes with Michael Jordan. Selecting quotes that resonate with a target audience can establish credibility and demonstrate a kind of social proof that your ideals and purposes are in line with others in your field.

Motivational quotes for motivating the masses

“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy; not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” – Socrates

Life can be hard. It’s easy to become weary and worn-down in the sameness of everyday. A few words of encouragement or motivation can be enough to help push through the hurdle and move forward with dreams or plans. A quote is a powerful way to speak into someone’s life with words that propel them to the next stage or simply give them the motivation to keep going. Finding ways to encourage or inspire people can create opportunities for relationships.

A carefully selected quote can be a powerful asset. It can forge connections, demonstrate leadership and challenge people to change their life. The next time you aren’t sure what to say, or simply want to connect with others on a new level, let someone else do the talking for you.
